Module 1: Family Life
Summary: Family Relationships
Key points
- A family can be nuclear (parents + children) or extended (with grandparents, uncles, aunts…).
- Families are different: some parents are together, some are divorced; love and support are what matter.
- Question words ask for precise information: who, what, when, where, why, how.
- We describe people with adjectives for looks (tall, slim) and character (supportive, severe, easy-going).
- Short adjectives have one syllable (or two ending in -y); long adjectives have two syllables or more.
Rules to remember
Wh- questions
Wh- word + auxiliary + subject + base verb: Where does your aunt live? When did they move?
Subject questions
When who or what is the subject, there is no do/does/did: Who lives with you? What happened?
Short / long adjectives
Short: kind, wise, funny. Long: patient, supportive, generous. Adjectives never take -s and go before the noun: kind parents.
How to do it
- Find what the underlined answer refers to (person, place, time…).
- Choose the wh- word.
- Add the right auxiliary (do / does / did / is…).
- Put the verb in the base form.
Example

Common mistakes
- *Where your sister lives?* ➡️ Where does your sister live?
- *Who does help you?* ➡️ Who helps you?
- *supportives parents* ➡️ supportive parents
