Answer elements · عناصر الإجابة
- Layout: a title, an introduction (the difficulties these schoolmates face), 3–4 concrete actions, a concluding hope; about 8 lines, no name, no school.
- Ideas: give them the front seats; read lessons aloud or record them; lend clear notes written in big letters; speak slowly and face them; help them move around the school; invite them to clubs and sports; ask teachers for adapted materials; never laugh at them.
- Language: ability (we can…), offering help (Can I help you?), intention (we are going to / we will…), hope (I hope that…), lexis: disabled, give a hand, take part in, volunteer.
- Model: Let's Give Them a Hand! Some of our schoolmates have sight or hearing problems, and studying is harder for them. We can do a lot to help. First, we can let them sit in the front row so that they see and hear better. We can also lend them our notes written in big, clear letters and read the lessons aloud to them. When we talk to a classmate with hearing problems, we should speak slowly and face him. Moreover, we are going to invite them to join our clubs and sports activities. I hope that everyone will treat them as equal friends.
